Curriculum

Public Safety I Curriculum Materials 

This course is a based upon an Introduction to Public Safety course supported through LAPSEN. A content map for this course has been developed by current NC high school Public Safety teachers to better align the materials with the approach NC teachers prefer when teaching this material. The content has not been changed, only the alignment of objectives. The content map can be found in the LAPSEN Moodle under the Public Safety Forum. Additionally, this course is aligned to NIMS (National Incident Management System) certifications that include NIMS 100, 200, 700, and 800.

Public Safety II Curriculum Materials 

This course provides a deeper level of understanding about a career in public safety by focusing on the Community Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T.) Certification. CERT is a Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) developed certification that incorporates all areas of public safety. Work-based learning strategies appropriate for this course including job shadowing. This course prepares students for the FEMA CERT certification. SkillsUSA competitive events, community service, and leadership activities provide the opportunity to apply essential standards and workplace readiness skills through authentic experiences.
