Resources

  1. Example of a High School Firefighter Technology Program: Memorandum of Agreement (MOA)—North Carolina This agreement is between the school hosting the program and one or more local fire departments. It supports the vision of a work-based learning program designed for high school students. The program helps students obtain industry-recognized certifications and provides resources to assist high school students in making informed decisions about future career paths.  Firefighter Technology Program supports an emerging workforce for preliminarily trained firefighters through authentic experiences.
  2. Example: Liability Waiver to be signed by parents (from North Carolina). This is a waiver that can be used in any program especially those that provide experiential learning and there is a possibility of some danger.
  3. Examples: Processes for establishing a Fire Cadet/Explorer Program (From Michigan). This includes an application form, approval form for the city or town, and a parental consent form.
  4. A Cadet Fire Fighter Booklet (from Michigan) that includes a welcome letter from the local fire chief, a code of conduct, bylaws for the program, standard operating procedures, and a list of uniforms and equipment issued to the cadet.
