  1. Example: Memorandum of Understanding for Emergency Medical Technician Education Program – North Carolina. This provides an example of an agreement between a school district and a county emergency medical service and the school where the career program is offered. It describes roles and responsibilities of all parties involved.

  2. Example: Liability Waiver to be signed by parents. This is a waiver that can be used in any program especially those that provide experiential learning and there is a possibility of some danger.

Emergency Medical Technology I Course

Recommended Maximum Enrollment: 15

Hours of Instruction: 135 (block) 150 (regular)

Aligned Career Technical Student Organization: SkillsUSA

Aligned Industry Credential: None

Description: This course is aligned to the EMT Basic certification available from the North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Services and is part I of a two-course sequence requiring resources from the community to help deliver instruction to the students. English language arts are reinforced. to meet the mandatory hours of training. (Note: Although focused on NC, this course can be easily modified for any state especially if there is cooperation from the state emergency medical office.)

 

Emergency Medical Technology II

Recommended Maximum Enrollment: 15

Hours of Instruction: 135 (block) 150 (regular)

Prerequisite: English III, IP21 (Note: Students must turn 17 years of age prior to the end, of course, to be eligible for enrolment in this course per NC OEMS requirements)

Aligned Industry Credential: Emergency Medical Technical Basic
